Amish Tripathi is an author, former diplomat and broadcaster. He published his first book in 2010 and has written 13 books — fiction, non-fiction and, from 2026, children’s literature. His books have sold over 8 million copies and been translated into 21 Indian and international languages. He is the fastest-selling author in Indian publishing history.

His fiction includes the Shiva Trilogy (The Immortals of Meluha, The Secret of the Nagas, The Oath of the Vayuputras), the Ram Chandra Series (Ram: Scion of Ikshvaku; Sita: Warrior of Mithila; Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta; War of Lanka) and the Indic Chronicles (Legend of Suheldev; The Chola Tigers). His non-fiction includes Immortal India, and — with Bhavna Roy — Dharma and Idols. Dhruv-Tara & The Great Indian History Quiz, the first of a planned series of seven children’s books, was published in July 2026. Critics have said that his books are backed by tremendous research, deep thought, a rooted pride in India and a liberal, progressive outlook.

Forbes India has regularly ranked Amish among the 100 most influential celebrities in India. He was selected as an Eisenhower Fellow in 2014. Among his recent honours are the 21st Century Icon Award (UK, 2021), the Golden Book Award for Legend of Suheldev (2022), the Dwarka Prasad Agarwal Award at the Jaipur Literature Festival (2024) and an honorary doctorate from the University of York (2026).

As a broadcaster he has hosted three documentaries with Warner Bros. Discovery — Legends of the Ramayana with Amish (2022), The Journey of India (2022, with Amitabh Bachchan) and Legends of Shiva with Amish (2025) — as well as Mahakumbh Tales with Amish (NDTV, 2025). He hosted, conceptualised and co-produced Ram Janmabhoomi: Return of a Splendid Sun (NDTV and JioCinema, 2024), the most-watched Indian documentary of 2024. His podcast, Immortal India with Amish, launched in September 2024.

From October 2019 to October 2023 Amish served as Minister (Culture & Education) at the High Commission of India in the United Kingdom and Director of The Nehru Centre in London, within India’s Ministry of External Affairs. He is a co-founder and co-creator, with Tara Gaming and Amitabh Bachchan, of Age of Bhaarat, planned as the first AAA video game based on an Indian epic.

Amish is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, which conferred its Distinguished Alumnus Award on him in 2017. He worked for fourteen years in senior roles in financial services before turning to full-time writing.
